Today during lunch, SDLA conference attendees had the opportunity to watch the performance of Three Voices “Speaking From the Past.” Geraldine Goes In Center, Joyce Jefferson, and Lilah Pengra portrayed three characters from the Lakota, Afro-American, and Euro-American cultures in South Dakota history. The women sang, played instruments, and performed different interpretations of events leading up to Wounded Knee. After the performance the group discussed the research behind the production and answered questions from the audience. It was a moving and informative performance.
(Pictures to come!)
